Emmer & Rye owner and executive chef Kevin Fink is named one of Food & Wine Best New Chefs for 2016. Other chefs joining him on the list include Michael Gulotta of MoPho and Tana in New Orleans, David Barzelay of Lazy Bear in San Francisco, and Iliana Regan of Elizabeth and Bunny in Chicago.

Fink opened the locally- and seasonally-driven restaurant in November, along with partners Page Pressley (chef de cuisine) and Tavel Bristol-Joseph (pastry chef) down on Rainey Street. The New American restaurant dives deep into techniques, like breads and fermentation. Fink previously worked in Noma, The French Laundry, Olamaie, and Zona 78 in Arizona.

The list focuses on chefs who have run their own kitchens for only five years or under, chosen by the magazine's editors. The latest chefs class will be spotlighted on the July issue of the magazine. The group will also be featured at the Food & Wine Classic out in Aspect in June.

Last year, Olamaie’s Michael Fojtasek and Grae Nonas received the same accolades, and before that, Paul Qui.
