Famed French chef Jacques Pépin is being celebrated with a dinner thrown by Launderette’s Rene Ortiz and Laura Sawicki on Sunday, June 5 presented by the Austin Food & Wine Alliance. And, yes, the charming man will be there himself, though sadly, he will not cook. Perhaps porron will be involved.
Reservations for the 7:30 p.m. dinner are $285, which benefits the group's grant program. The five courses will be paired with wine. This follows Pepin's speaking event earlier that day at the Long Center, where he will talk about his experiences and cooking series Jacques Pépin: Heart & Soul. Tickets are still available.
Launderette is a finalist for this year's James Beard Awards' Best New Restaurant category, the winners of which will be announced next week.
