SOUTH LAMAR — Spanish restaurant El Chipiron broke ground at the Cielo apartment complex recently, run by Pablo Gómez Tollar.
DOWNTOWN — Coast, the restaurant replacing wine bar Mulberry on Nueces Street, is coming along in its new space with electricity. Ruston Richardson has been testing out dishes (tacos!) with a pop-up trailer.
WEST FIFTH — Veggie Heaven is underway now that the campus favorite received its permits. Owner Stacy Chen is looking to hire a whole team to help run the restaurant, from servers to managers. The menu will cut out all animal products by going completely vegan.
SOUTH CONGRESS — Take a first peek of what’s in store for June’s, the newest project from McGuire Moorman Hospitality Group, in the former Wahoo’s Taco spot on South Congress: tiles. And wine, since beverage director June Rodil is involved.
FAR NORTH — Beer chain Yard House sets its Austin debut for Saturday, May 14. Drinkers can expect 130 taps, with 29 different Texas breweries represented, including 4th Tap, Austin Beerworks, Blue Owl, Hops & Grain, and much more.
WEST SIXTH — Continuing the female name trend, Irene's is just almost there: there's menu and website, patio, bar, and many job fairs. It’s set to open this season.
MUELLER — Along with blue walls, L'Oca d'Oro invited children to create potential dishes for the kids' menu. Two winners so far include the rainbow salad and kitty crunch, which is in the shape of a cat face. It’s on track to open in May.
ROUND ROCK — Construction has begun for Jack Allen’s Kitchen chef/owner Jack Gilmore’s next venture Salt Traders Coastal Cooking, opening this summer with fresh seafood and a raw bar.
