Buzz Mill Coffee is turning Midway Field House, which shuttered abruptly last week, into a music venue and event space sporting a lumberjack motif (of course) as reported by Austin 360. With Grizzly Hall, owner Jason Sabala plans on hosting concerts, film screenings, and various other events.

The 500-person space features a full bar, lounge spaces, and many taxidermy animal heads. Grizzly officially opens on Saturday, April 30, with a grand opening show slated for Saturday, May 28.

The East Riverside address also used to be the home of Beauty Ballroom and an iteration of Antone’s, fittingly next door to the relocated Emo's. Sabala’s company Grizzly Discovery opened sports bar Midway in 2014.

Buzz Mill is working on opening a second location of the coffee shop near South Congress Avenue, which has been delayed. There's another one planned for San Marcos, followed by potential spots in Louisiana. Grizzly Discovery also owns cold brew Bootleg Supply Co. and and patriotic food trailer 1776 Cheesesteak Co.

Other Austin restaurants have expanded or are in the process of opening event spaces, from Peached Tortilla’s Peached Social House and Parkside Projects’ and Shawn Cirkiel’s 800 Congress.
