Tacodeli partnered with Jodi Elliott's Bribery Bakery to offer an exclusive chocolate-chunk cookie, available at all locations of the taco chain in Texas, earlier this week.
According to Elliott, a manager at Tacodeli's Rosedale location lives near the bakery's Wells Branch location. Over the course of the past year, he became a regular at the shop. He proposed a collaboration and, as a fan, Elliott jumped at the prospect.
"We started working on cookies and testing batches and it all finally came to fruition last week," says Elliott. She developed the recipe, a chocolatey blend of both semi-sweet and milk chocolate chunks. She and her staff provides Tacodeli with the dough portioned out, ready to be baked at each restaurant.
"We definitely want to do some other cookies for them," says Elliott. "Hopefully it's just the beginning of a long relationship!"
Tacodeli often experiments with a few wholesalers to provide desserts in the restaurants, including caramels from Chocolaterie Tessa (also available now) and salted chocolate chip cookies from the now-defunct Butterface Bakery. Tacodeli opened its first shop on Spyglass Drive in 1999 and has since expanded to six locations, including one in Dallas, which opened in late October.
Bribery Bakery debuted its first location in Wells Branch in early 2015, soon followed by the second location in the Mueller development in February of this year. The new bakery added savory entrees and cocktails to the menu, as well as additional service hours in the evening. Elliott built up her brand locally as pastry chef and co-owner of Foreign & Domestic, where she also held weekend pop-up bake sales.
