Sports bar Basecamp, from Summit Roof owner Chad Barrett, previous Parkside Projects restaurant manager Dan Wyman, and former Uchi chef Eric Kuypers, sets its opening date for Thursday, April 21. The bar already soft opened with a few events during SXSW last month and screened various sports games, including the NCAA Championship.

Kuypers’ menu includes bar fare like burgers, chicken wings, fried pickles, and mac ‘n’ cheese. Other items include hush puppies made with shrimp and jalapeno, brisket nachos, and beignets. The bar tested out cocktails during its soft open, including a spicy paloma, negroni, and vodka strawberry lemonade.

The space includes 13 television screens for various sports games. Private rooms include the Austin Suite adorned with a mural dedicated to the city, featuring several iconic buildings and of course, Willie Nelson.

Basecamp founder Barrett also set up Aquila Commercial real estate. He also owned Summit Rooftop Lounge. Wyman managed Parkside, Olive and June, Backspace, and Bullfight. Kuyper previously cooked for Peached Tortilla, as well.

Hours are from 4 p.m. to midnight on Sunday through Thursday, and until 2 a.m. on the weekends. Happy hour is held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays, with half-off beer and bar food.

Other nearby developments include the transformation of Bess Bistro into Sophia's, new rooftop bar Green Light Social, and bowling alley The Goodnight, all on West 6th Street, plus ELM Group’s impending Irene’s.
