Gelateria Gemelli, the East 6th gelato shop, rolls out a new location—literally—as early as next week, pending inspections, with a new food truck in the lot next to La Barbecue on East Cesar Chavez.
Update, March 16: The ice cream trailer is now open.
The new truck will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday to complement lot-neighbors La Barbecue. "We would like to stay open later for the dinner crowd as soon as we're settled in, as there are a couple other trucks, Raw Goods and Dee Dee Northern Thai, who will do dinner service," says Gemelli owner Andrew Sabola. ""We are all super excited to be in the lot together."
On the menu will be French press and NOLA-style cold brew coffee, with espresso drinks to come later on. Gelato offerings will include what Sabola describes as "the greatest hits of the store," including Valrhona chocolate, salted caramel, and Vietnamese coffee. The truck will also offer three sorbets in pineapple-mint, raspberry-sage, and lemon-basil. "We thought that sitting in the sun on a hot day eating brisket might call for a more refreshing sorbet to dessert," says Sabola.
Gelateria Gemelli opened in the Corazon Apartments in May 2015. Its neighbors include Fukomoto Izakaya and Sushi Bar, Spartan Pizza, and upscale chocolatier Maggie Louise Confections.
