Chicon, the new restaurant taking over Gardner’s vacated space on East 6th Street from Contigo’s Andrew Wiseheart and Ben Edgerton, opens tonight at 5 p.m. In anticipation of its debut, Eater got a first look at the revamped space and menu.

The new Chicon is more free and warmer than its subdued predecessor, with an open bar between the dining and patio rooms, and saturated blue walls lining the previously subdued space. Seating includes banquettes with colorful pillows and leather chairs.

The casual and shareable menu features similar fare to Contigo. Expect meats like grilled half chickens, burgers, clams, and goat, alongside vegetables like beets, swiss chard, and roasted carrots. Drinks include cocktails, beer, and wine, with sweet desserts, including one incorporating Fernet Branca, Coca Cola, and coffee.
