Sneak a Peek Inside Backbeat, the Stylish South Lamar Bar from Drink.Well, Opening Today

Backbeat, the new bar from Drink.Well cocktail team Michael and Jessica Sanders, opens on South Lamar today, Tuesday, March 22. As with the North Loop bar, the Sanders' new drinks menu emphasizes very thoughtful drinks, split up into themed flavor profiles: up beat, down beat, off beat, plus a small snacks menu.

Cocktails include two tiki options, like the Neon Jungle which comes with glow stick straw. The sweets-forward Pink Squirrel is a boozy milkshake made with vanilla ice cream, almond liqueur, dark cacao, and apricot brandy. On tap are the Trinidad Sour and Sherry Cobbler. Then there are wine, beer, and ciders available, including a rotating featured champagne. Check out the full menu below.

The bites menu has pate melts, oysters, cheese and meat boards, and chicken liver mousse with brioche and jam. Desserts include a chocolate flight paired with whiskey. $1 of all purchases of Japanese whiskey Moon Bridge Highball will be donated to the Zilker Botanical Garden.

Eater photographer Robert J. Lerma took a tour of the two story stylish blue-hued space designed by Jamie Chioco. On the first floor, seating arrangements include includes bar, banquette, and booths. The table beneath the skylight will become a desired spot. Upstairs, the rooftop deck is filled with greenery for a more intimate space, and views of downtown Austin. Hours are from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. on the weekends.
