IHOP’s Racist Receipt, McDonald’s Texas Burger Contest, and More A.M. Intel

The latest six restaurant tidbits in Austin served right now.

— Two IHOP customers were surprised to find a racist note on their receipt this week after they stopped by the pancake chain's I-35 and Cesar Chavez location, according to KHOU. Arainia Brown shared the image of the receipt, which read "black ppl," on her Facebook page, which went viral. IHOP released a statement, calling the receipt "a poor choice."

— Want to design your own McDonald’s burger in the name of Texas? The fast food burger chain is asking Texans to submit their takes on what the state burger should have. Options vary from bread (Texas toast, sourdough buns), beef patty sizes, type of cheese, vegetables, and sauce (barbecue is included of course). There are "Texas flair" additions like guacamole, bacon, pico de gallo, or roasted green chiles.

The Statesman spent some Super Tuesday time at various election watch parties, including Threadgill’s and the Hillary Clinton one at Tacos and Tequila.

— The finalists for this year's Austin Under 40 include Swift's Attic's and Wu Chow's CK Chin, Josh Hare from Hops & Grain, and Aaron Joseph Berman from the Austin location of Infinite Monkey Theorem.

— Fine dining isn’t over in Austin, according to Tribeza, highlighting Qui's ticketed tasting menu, and the Texas forever one at Barley Swine.
