Bryce Gilmore of Barley Swine and Odd Duck nabs a finalist spot in the James Beard Awards this year for Best Chef Southwest category. This is his fourth nomination as finalist. Olamaie’s Grae Nonas and Launderette are also finalists for Rising Star of the Year and Best New Restaurant respectively.

Tyson Cole of Hai Hospitality, Uchi, and Uchiko was picked as a semifinalist for Outstanding Chef, along with Launderette’s Laura Sawicki for Outstanding Pastry Chef. Aaron Franklin won the award for Best Chef in the southwest last year. Olamaie and David Bull were semifinalists that year, too. The winners will be announced at the gala on Monday, May 2 in Chicago.
