For President Barack Obama’s Austin visit today, he decided to go with local chain Torchy’s Tacos. His motorcade stopped by the further South First location, where he ordered politically-themed tacos: Democrat (barbacoa), Republican (jalapeno sausage) and Independent (mushrooms), for a total of $18.40. He paid in cash, talked to customers, and shook hands with the staff. He also bought tacos for his own staff and Austin Mayor Steve Adler.

The president’s previous Austin restaurant stops included Franklin BarbecueMagnolia Cafe, and Stubb’s Bar-B-Que. Obama is only in town for the day, giving a SXSW keynote, speaking at a Democratic fundraising event, and attending a private event in Tarrytown. No word on who is catering yet.
