Counter Culture, the East Cesar Chavez vegan restaurant, is honoring its truck roots by opening a trailer in the South Austin Food Court on South First and West Live Oak. Counter Culture Junior will serve vegan-, raw-, and gluten-free friendly fare. Look out for jerk seitan sandwiches, jackfruit barbecue sauce, samosa quesadilla, and soy-free migas tacos on the rotating menu. Scope out the trailer’s first lineup below.
Owner Sue David decided to reopen the trailer after vegan and vegetarian Schmaltz shuttered last year, which took over her old truck when the brick and mortar opened in 2012. Davis originally opened the trailer in 2009.
The trailer will be open from Thursday through Sunday, noon until 6 p.m. There are plans to expand to five days a week later in spring.
