It’s time again to look ahead to the new restaurants coming to Austin, including healthy American fare, Mediterranean, and many northward expansions

Burnet Road
Beloved South First-area French pastry shop La Patisserie is expanding to the north to 7301 Burnet Road. The new location will offer Soraiya Nagree’s signature macarons in flavors like salted caramel and cardamom honey orange. Look for an expanded coffee program and the ever-popular CroBrio (croissant-brioche mashup) at the new location. No opening date has been announced; watch La Patisserie’s Facebook page for updates.

Hanabi has earned a sushi-loving following on Anderson Lane over the past few years. This spring, it expands northward, moving into the former Sushi Sake Japanese space.

The fourth location of coffeeshop-cum-cafe Barley Bean is set to open in May in the recently completed Greenview at Barton Creek condominiums. The three other locations in West Campus and South Austin serve smoothies, paninis, and pizza.

The Buda Mill & Grain Co., a renovated historic district composed of five buildings including a 1914 cotton gin, will soon be home to Nate’s, a cafe and bar serving coffee and cocktails and more than 20 beers on tap, as well as food from Independence Fine Foods. Nate’s is the latest project from Josh Bumb and Richard Veregge, the team behind Moontower Saloon.

North University
Baked By Amy’s will soon open a second location in a renovated house behind the Amy’s Ice Cream at 35th and Guadalupe. Baked By Amy’s offers sweet baked treats like cookies, pies, brownies and cakes.

The Domain
Round Rock-based Steve Sheets will open a second Brass Tap at the Domain. The 10,000-square-foot space will include a large outdoor area to enjoy craft beers, cocktails, and pizza. Sheets franchised his first Brass Tap on Round Rock’s Main Street in 2013.

Colorado-based fast casual healthy eating emporium Modern Market expands its reach with its fifth Texas location in the former Firebowl Cafe Elevation Burger spot in the Arboretum. The emphasis is on seasonal, scratch-made American food made from wholesome ingredients that can accommodate any diet. The first Modern Market opened in Boulder in 2009.

Brothers Tom and Nick Calandro are bringing a second location of their "American sandwiches in Mediterranean bread" concept, Pita Fusion, to Lakeline. The first location opened in Round Rock in 2008.

The new Oaks at Lakeway retail center in Lakeway is home to the nearly complete McArthur’s Gastropub. The menu at the high-end gastropub will include wings, burgers, steaks, and pastas and will also offer delivery within a seven-mile radius. Restaurateur Alan McArthur is a Lakeway resident whose father operated several Wendy’s franchises.

Pappadeaux, the Louisiana seafood concept of the Houston-based Pappas Restaurant group, will open its second Austin location at 11617 Research Blvd.
