Gardner, the vegetable-loving restaurant from EdgeWise group's Ben Edgerton and chef Andrew Wiseheart is closing on Friday, March 11 Saturday, March 12. The pair will turn the space into a new restaurant, Chicon, set to quickly open sometime in late March. In a press release, Edgerton said:

Gardner was the most ambitious of these three concepts, and it has been extremely rewarding to serve the people of Austin for the past year and a half. Ultimately, our goal is to serve our community well, and we are excited to work diligently to transform the Gardner space into a new restaurant that will accomplish that goal.

Chicon’s revamped space will be designed by Kevin Stewart and interior designs by Ann Edgerton. It will feature the same Contigo look with steel, cedar, and terra cotta. There will be an expanded bar menu, patio, and 120 guest capacity.

Gardner opened in fall 2014, won Eater's So Hot Right Now award in 2014, and nabbed a spot on Bon Appetit’s Best New Restaurants list in 2015. Edgerton and Wiseheart still operate the outdoor rustic ranch wonderland Contigo, as well as catering.
