NaiNai, Chi'Lantro's Expansion, and More New Food Trucks

Four new trucks for your food and drink needs.

The past few months have yielded a handful of new trucks offering comforting sips and soups. Check out these three newcomers and updates to an old standby.

Inspired by his grandmother's recipe for Hainanese chicken and rice along with other Singaporean street foods, proprietor Charles Hall launched NaiNai (the Chinese word for "grandmother") at 1403 East 7th Street in November. In addition to the flagship dish, NaiNai also offers fried chicken wings on its limited menu.

Level Up

Level Up started slinging smoothies, juices, cocoa, and soups from a refurbished double-decker bus at The Thicket in the fall. The upper level of the bus functions as a deck, where patrons can enjoy their drinks under cheerful umbrellas.

Imagine Tea Leaf

For those who prefer tea in their cuppa, Imagine Tea Leaf at 603 West Live Oak has been offering chai, loose leaf, matcha, and kombucha since September. There are also vegan pastries and almond and coconut milks.

Chi'lantro debuted its downtown food truck at 823 Congress instead of a brick and mortar on Tuesday, February 9. The menu includes breakfast tacos and lunch options, but those famed kimchi fries area notable absence.
