The culinary duo behind forthcoming Italian restaurant Intero, Ian Thurwachter and Krystal Craig, have secured a space at 2612 East Cesar Chavez. They’re working on turning the former Bud’s Motorcycle Shop into a proper restaurant by April 2017.
Expect a small changing menu of contemporary Italian-inspired cuisine with an emphasis on locally farmed seasonal produce and locally raised whole animals. A key feature of Intero will be an artisan chocolate counter.
Austin natives Thurwachter and Craig both have set firm roots in the city’s culinary scene. Thurwachter worked in the kitchen of other Austin restaurants like Vespaio and Jeffrey's. Craig is the chocolatier behind Crave Artisan Chocolate. She has also collaborated with Austin Beerworks on a chocolate milk stout.
According to the website, Intero, meaning “whole” or “complete” in Italian embraces “the full concept of the restaurant, from the source and preparation of the food to the interior and atmosphere.” Sample menus are available, and preview pop-ups are in the works. Stay tuned for details.
The addition of Intero will strengthen East Cesar Chavez’s reputation as the city’s newest and ever-growing culinary destination that includes La Barbecue, Juniper, Dee Dee, Counter Culture, Grizzelda's, and many more.
