Vigilante, the bar and restaurant focused on all-things board games, is opening on Friday, January 27 in Crestview. The goal is to become a community space for people who enjoy playing board games. Co-founder Preston Swincher told Eater previously, "We're trying to really elevate the gaming in public experience into something new that it's never really been before."
Update, January 23: Vigilante had to push back its opening date to Friday, February 17.
Almost everything in Vigilante was created with a lot of insight from future customers. There are totally decked-out tables built specially for gamers, from outlets, wifi, and ethernet capabilities, roll-out trays for food and cup holders so things don't get messy, to a service button and a call for more players.
Guests will be able to pick and choose from over 150 games using a digital menu. The games will be repackaged to ward against wear and tear.
Chef Derrick Hoang will cook up food that isn’t messy (so it doesn’t interfere with playing), like like sliders, spring rolls, and empanadas. For drinks, there are local beers, wine, and sake.
The big space includes three main sections: the dining room, social lounge, and bar area, plus two private dining rooms hidden behind bookcase doors. There are plans for regular events, like Death by Brunch and something involving Dungeons and Dragons.
People who contributed to its Kickstarter and NextSeed will be invited to a soft opening before the grand debut. The bar is currently hiring for front and back of house staff.
Found within Midtown Commons, Vigilante’s hours are from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. every day.
