There are big changes ahead for Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ: the barbecue trailer is opening a brick and mortar to call its very own in far South Austin. While construction kicks into gear, the current trailer will move further south to that new home on 11500 Manchaca Road. This relocation is set to happen sometime in mid-January.
Update, January 19: Valentina’s relocated barbecue truck is now open in its new home along Manchaca Road. Violet Taco reopens in Valentina's old spot along Brodie Lane on Friday, January 20.
Pitmaster Miguel Vidal plans on expanding the barbecue trailer’s menu with speciality smoked meats dishes that he’s been experimenting with for the past several years. The new space will also include much more room for customers.
This also means there are developments for Vidal’s downtown trailer Violet Taco. Its lease at Star Bar is over at the end of this month. After a few touch-ups, Violet will take over Valentina’s soon-to-be former space on Brodie Lane. The relocation will also entail new menu dishes, including tortas and Tex Mex platters. Once settled, it’ll open at 7 a.m. for breakfast.
Valentina's Tex Mex BBQ, known for delicious smoked meats and and breakfast tacos, first opened in 2013 at Star Bar, and then moved down to Brodie Lane during the West 6th Street bar's renovations. Violet Taco debuted in April 2015 at Craftsman but had to leave the East Cesar Chavez bar because of code compliance problems. It took over Valentina’s former spot at Star Bar in July 2015.
