With the approach of Alamo Drafthouse’s Mueller opening soon, the theater revealed details on its attached bar. Taking on a carnival theme, Barrel O’ Fun draws inspiration from vintage boardwalks. Yes, actual carnival games will be there.

Keeping in line with its family-friendly peg, daytime hours are for children and teenagers. When the sun sets, the “Barrel” becomes a “Bar” (literally, the “r-e-l” letters on the sign will dim) with cocktails and barrel-aged beers, and adult events (music, karaoke, comedy, etc.).

Alamo and the theater’s beverage director Bill Norris are currently looking for a bar manager for Barrel. That person will design the bar menu, as well as create themed drinks for events and the such. The theater’s executive chef Brad Sorenson will oversee the menu.

Alamo also released a rough video rendering of what the space will look like, with freak show posters, booth seating, and stage.

At the other Austin locations, South Lamar has the revamped Highball, Slaughter with tequila-forward 400 Rabbits, Lakeline and Glass Half Full. Alamo Mueller is set to open in early 2017.
