South Austin’s Lamar Union keeps growing with more and restaurants. The latest comes from the owners of J. Black’s — welcome TLC. This new eatery will focus on counter service large Texas plates and beer. Keep an eye out for seafood boils.

Run by Sean Fric and Geoff Freeman, TLC will include both indoor and outdoor areas with porch swings, communal tables, kid- and adult-friendly games, and television screens.

And no, the name doesn’t necessarily stand for what you’re thinking of (the phrase: “tender loving care”). Instead, it’s meant to be open to interpretation, so think of something Texas-themed.

TLC comes to Austin courtesy of the Manera Restaurant Group, which oversees J. Black's Feel Good Kitchen and Lounge on West 6th Street (as well as the Houston location). Fric also opened The Golden Goose in Horseshoe Lounge's longtime home on South Lamar.

Lamar Union’s most recent restaurant is Vox Table’s new Mexican spot, El Burro, which opened last week. TLC is set to debut sometime next spring.
