Turns out Ng BMT is no longer reopening to a then-unknown location. Instead, the Vietnamese sandwich shop will remain closed. The owners "are financially unable to continue this venture," according to Ng's website.
Ng stopped making banh mi from its location within Asian-styled Lucky Bakery on Research Boulevard earlier this fall.
While the new location is in the works, full details have not been released yet. According to Yelp, the updated Ng BMT is set to reopen on May 2, 2017. Eater will update this post with new information.
The essential cheap eats spot is known for its variety of banh mi, with ham, shrimp, a vegan one with tofu, and others. Before its bakery home, Ng BMT dished out sandwiches from within Lucky’s neighbor Hong Kong Supermarket.
In other recent Vietnamese restaurant news, Lulu B’s brick and mortar on South Lamar appeared to have shuttered sometime earlier this fall.
This story has been updated to reflect the current status of Ng BMT.
