Way South Philly, the cheesesteak-loving food truck, is opening a brick and mortar restaurant in Allandale. Owner William Pearce told Eater he’s looking to open sometime in mid January 2017, potentially on the 10th.
Update, January 17, 2017: Way South Philly’s brick and mortar deli is now open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
The Burnet Road restaurant will look and feel like a Northeastern deli, serving those iconic Philly cheesesteaks, tater tots, Italian sausages and more, all plentiful with Cheez Whiz, plus Tastykakes for desserts. Pearce will look at expanding the menu with hoagies, pasta salads, and other sorts of deli-style finds.
The Philadelphia-born owner opened the red truck in 2011. The main truck is on East 6th and Waller streets, which will remain open. There is also a second roaming truck, nicknamed The Mighty Mick, which is used for events and catering gigs.
The new Way South will be found right between Chi’lantro and Austin Diner. Other nearby neighbors include Fonda San Miguel and Epicerie.
