Austin restaurants and bars get into the spooky Halloween spirit by offering wickedly good treats like the Black Magic ice cream at Prohibition Creamery to ghost-shaped dim sum bao at Wu Chow and throwing parties and Halloween-themed events. North Loop’s Drink.Well even went a step further with a total Stranger Things transformation. But the real show for most restaurants and bars is often reserved for October 31 (or the weekend before) when Austin’s restaurant industry dresses for the occasion.
Here are Eater’s favorites from Rick James, Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding ice skating duo, an all-staff sport bar conversion, to, of course, two Guy Fieris.
Uchi, South Lamar
The colorful family of misfits at Uchi would suggest that top-notch sushi can possibly be the thread that binds us all…if it were not for that frightening creeper in the bushes with the butcher knife.
Cane Rosso, South Lamar
The Darth Vader-adorned employee at pizza-slinging Cane Rosso proved there is, in fact, good food on the dark side.
Boiler Nine Bar + Grill, Downtown
Food Network star Guy Fieri’s lookalike popped into the kitchen at Boiler Nine. We hope the Mayor of Flavortown tried the beer bread.
Komé, Hyde Park
How can you improve Komé? Add a ninja chef, of course.
Yard Bar, Brentwood
Yard Bar (dog park/casual restaurant/bar) on Burnett Road didn’t let the dogs have all the fun — though this bulldog dressed as a lobster stole our heart.
Barlata, South Lamar
Are those American flag-inspired tights a trick or a treat? Either way, big applause to the staff who dressed up.
The Barlata staff is ready for your tricks or treats ! We’re offering 10% off to those who come in wearing a costume tonight! pic.twitter.com/3w4Gv5Ogja

Swift’s Attic, Downtown
All-staff sports-themed apparel for the win, with baseball and football seasons still going strong.
Uchiko, North Lamar
Who do we need to talk to to give the Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding pair a lifetime supply of fried milk desserts? Plus, see if you can find the second Guy Fieri of the day.

Lucky’s Fried Chicken, South Congress
Stevie Nicks is the best Halloween witch ever. (Also she is not really a witch. You all know that, right?)
Bullfight, Hyde Park
Things got super freaky when Rick James was spotted at Bullfight yesterday.
Fukumoto, East Side
It’s not totally clear what’s going on here but we like it very much.
