— Food-loving musician Questlove was back in Austin again. This time, he indulged in La Barbecue’s smoked meats. A weekend ago, he enjoyed some Stiles Switch BBQ and Franklin Barbecue before his F1 performance with The Roots.

— Southern Living’s best barbecue of the year list includes Austin’s favorite smoked meats trio Franklin Barbecue, La Barbecue, and Micklethwait Craft Meats. Nearby spots like Black’s Barbecue, Louie Mueller Barbecue, City Market, and Kruez Market made the cut too.

— Yes, there is a combination cycling and doughnut speed-eating competition in Austin. Racers, which includes Yasir Salem who is apparently noted in this particular niche, will compete on Sunday, November 13. The race will include stops at Krispy Kreme, Shipley's Do-Nuts, and Dunkin' Donuts, though some local additions would've been nice. Gulping down massive Gourdough’s doughnuts would take some skills.

— Lakeway restaurant Fore closed last week because of low sales and the number of new restaurants in the area. It had been open for five years.

— Moon milk-obsessed Summermoon Coffee Bar continues to quickly expand with its fifth location out in San Antonio. There are three more cafes slated for Texas after that, including one on Manchaca Road.
