Everyone remembers the "bad hombres" Donald Trump warned us about during the final debate earlier this month. Cane Rosso sure does, and the restaurant used the Republican presidential nominee’s phrase as inspiration for a new pizza special in true Austin fashion.
The Bad Hombre is loaded with brisket and queso from Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ (naturally), plus mozzarella, sausage, and roasted poblanos. General manager Sean Roche told Eater, "This one is our version of brisket and sausage queso," that so happens to be on Neapolitan pizza. It'll be available throughout the weekend, as long as the brisket doesn't run out.
Other restaurants and food trucks across the country created Bad Hombre specials as well. A Portland taco truck's concocted a burrito and the cocktail from Rosepepper Cantina in Nashville came with what it described as "very, very strong, believe me, mezcal." Over in Houston, cocktail bar Axelrad has its own drink commentary. The Bad Hombre beverage comes with mezcal, and the Nasty Woman with gin and creme de cacao. Someone created a Bad Hombre website, which details the menu for a food truck catering to "small tacos for small hands."
