Baby Greens, the anticipated drive-thru salad joint that closed in 2009, is officially back for good starting on Tuesday, November 1. Fans will find familiar mixed greens and wraps on the fast casual menu with protein options, like the Caesar and Asian salads, with slight updates. New is the bright Rainbow salad, full of purple cabbage, carrots, avocado, tomatoes, pumpkin seeds, and feta.

Owner and head salad honcho Sharon Mays announced her plans to revive her chain last fall, bringing back healthy and affordable options to Austin. She found the location out on West Anderson Lane, formerly a car lot. A catering branch is in the works, too.

Ever the eye towards being green-friendly, there is a built-in rainwater collection system and a living green wall with self-misters. The two-lane drive-thru includes a walk-up window and some outdoor seating. In keeping with the theme, there are plans for a community garden

Baby Greens’ hours will be from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the weekends.

There’s been a spurt of salad-focused eateries opening in Austin, with the expansion of New Mexico-based Vinaigrette, the return of shuttered Leaf late last year, and Colorado-based Mad Greens’ six Austin-area spots.
