DeSano Pizzeria Napoletana, one of Nashville’s essential restaurants, is now open in Austin on Burnet Road. The first official day was yesterday, Tuesday, October 25.
The fall anticipated pizzeria boasts of Neapolitan pies made with one of the four wood-fired ovens. Along with the pies, there are calzones, salads, and desserts in pizza-form and otherwise. Everything from the buffalo mozzarella cheese to the beers are sourced straight from Italy.
It’s all about showing just how the pizza gets made, from the open kitchen to the visible dough room, where pie makers knead and toss what will turn into pizza crust. Fun strange fact: according to Facebook, the ovens were "blessed by Roman priests and named after saints."
The Austin expansion is helmed by Texas Star Brands, Inc., which also operates Bob's Steak and Chop House.
DeSano’s daily hours are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. There are additional locations in Los Angeles and Charleston.
