Marcus Samuelsson, the New York City-based chef at Red Rooster, cookbook author, James Beard Award winner, and Top Chef winner, will hang out at Olamaie for brunch on Saturday, November 5.

Alas, Samuelsson won’t be found behind the kitchen. Instead, Olamaie chef Michael Fojtasek will cook up a special brunch menu using recipes from the honored chef’s The Red Rooster Cookbook, served alongside weekend morning cocktails.

Samuelsson is in town for the Texas Book Festival. He’ll speak later that day about Red Rooster the restaurant in Harlem and book, as well as sign his cookbook, at 4:15 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church.

The Saturday brunch starts at 11 a.m. The $125 ticket comes with the three-course brunch, passed appetizers, cocktails, and a copy of Samuelsson's book with autograph.

Other food and drink-related panels during the book festival include Padma Lakshmi talking about her latest book, a spice and herb encyclopedia, taco journalists Mando Rayo and Jarod Neece, John Currence on Southern breakfasts, and others.
