The Halal Guys, the ever-popular Middle Eastern empire from New York, has settled on an Austin location. It will be found on North Campus at the former home of I Luv Video on Guadalupe. Currently, there is construction permitting to change the rental store space into a restaurant, as pointed out by a tipster, but there is no opening date as of yet.

Halal Guys founders Mohamed Abouelenein, Ahmed Elsaka, and Abdelbaset Elsayed knew they wanted to expand to Austin in 2014, but didn't find the right location until the space on Guadalupe worked out.

I Luv Video shuttered the Guadalupe location last fall, and moved all of its stock into its Airport Boulevard location. Parking seemed to be a problem for the business, according to the Chronicle.

Interestingly enough, further south on campus, Kismet Cafe, which serves halal fare as well, announced that it would be moving up to the Hancock Center sometime before Thanksgiving.

The Halal Guys opened its first food cart in New York back in 1990s, and quickly grew with franchised locations across the country, including in Houston and Dallas, and the world.
