What: The all-female bartending competition’s Texas stop is San Antonio this month. Judges include Alba Huerta from Julep, Chris Bostick from Half Step, and Jason Kosmos from Employees Only. Austin competitors include Jennifer Keyser from Hotel Van Zandt, Ashley Hausserman from The Roosevelt Room, Madelyn Kay from Vox Table, and others.

SAN ANTONIO COCKTAIL CONFERENCE
Where: San Antonio, Texas
When: Thursday, January 14 through Sunday, January 17
What: The booze-filled conference is back again this month with seminars, tastings, and lots of parties with Texas bartenders like Jessica Sanders, David Alan. There will be a tribute to the late mixologist master Sasha Petraske in the form of a panel and daiquiris. Check out last year’s coverage.

MONICA POPE’S R3 SUMMIT DINNER
Where: Moody Theater, 310 Willie Nelson Boulevard
When: Friday, January 15, 9 p.m.
What: The opening night of the R3 Summit from Prevention Magazine will feature a dinner from Sparrow’s Monica Pope, from Houston. The menu includes meatless meatballs, gridded polenta, and salmon cakes.

ANJORE’S POP-UP AT BLACK'S BBQ
Where: Black’s BBQ, 3110 Guadalupe Street
When: Thursday, January 14, 6 to 8:30 p.m.
What: The Indian-Texas farmer’s market stand’s next pop-up is with the Austin location of Black’s BBQ. Treats will include tikka masala barbecue sauce with sausage, oysters Rockefeller Kati rolls, and a custom Zilker Brewing beer made with smoked satsuma syrup.

AUSTIN BACON AND BEER FESTIVAL Update, January 22: The even has been postponed until summer.
Where: Fair Market, 1100 East 5th Street
When: Sunday, January 24, 2:30 to 5 p.m.
What: While tickets are technically sold out for the bacon and beer festival, Edible Austin might release more later this month. Participating restaurants include Frank, Peached Tortilla, Salty Sow, and more, with beers from (512), Last Stand, and others.
