Frank Bruni is a Juniper Fan, Isla Debuted Brunch, and More A.M. Intel

The latest four restaurant tidbits in Austin served right now.

Nadia Chaudhury is the editor of Eater Austin covering food and pop culture, as well as a photographer, writer, and frequent panel moderator and podcast guest.

— Frank Bruni, the former New York Times restaurant critic and current columnist, is a big fan of Juniper’s puffy potatoes, and other dishes.

— Pizza maker and food blogger Adam Kuban named Via 313 and Pieous as two of his eight favorite pizzerias of 2015. He wrote that Via is creating "some of the best pizza in the country right now."

— Isla launched brunch this weekend. Dishes include chicken fried pork chops, johnny cakes with shrimp, pineapple sweet rolls, and tamales topped with eggs. Brunch drinks include prickly pear or passion fruit mimosas and bloody marys. Hours for the weekend brunch are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

— Several Austin restaurants and bars, Bob Woody, the man behind The Old Pecan St. Cafe and Shakespeare's, and El Arroyo, are showing support for Lyft and Uber. Signatures are being currently gathered to back ride-sharing apps.
