Get ready to wait in line: Shake Shack’s fried chicken sandwich The Chick’n Shack will be available in Austin, as well as throughout the country, starting today, January 14. This means both the South Lamar and the Domain locations, both at 11 a.m. Others might remember the sandwich as the ChickenShack when it was introduced in limited release last summer in Brooklyn locations only.
The cultishly beloved burger chain's poultry sandwich is made with buttermilk fried chicken breast. That's topped with lettuce, pickles, and buttermilk herb mayo, all between the group’s usual potato roll. Served on the side will be new-to-Shake Shack Louisiana hot sauce, all for $6.29. During the Brooklyn debut, Eater wondered when Shake Shack would extend the release of the sandwich, and whether the chain would branch out with a separate fried chicken sandwich chain, which wasn't the case.
Fast casual fried chicken is slowly taking over Austin, with East Side King’s spicy green curry and buttermilk sandwiches at the Four Horseman, and anticipated drive-thru Flyrite Chicken. Then there is also the forthcoming revitalized J.T. Youngblood's Fried Chicken.
