Tonight’s the night for Nightcap’s debut, opening at 5 p.m. after nearly three years in the works. The Clarksville dessert bar offers unique sweets like apple wasabi ginger root beer floats and a vegan "Elvis brownie" with sour ice cream and chocolate malt sauce. Boozy milkshakes and cocktails accompany cookie plates to share, along with savory small plates.
The sweets lounge was announced in 2013 with an estimated October 2014 opening date but zoning and permitting issues delayed the project, which is situated in a remodeled house on West Sixth Street. Eater took a tour of the space, which offers comfy chairs in front, brightly colored banquettes within, and a curved bar from which to observe the action. There’s a patio and, eventually, a garden that will supply the kitchen and bar with fresh ingredients.
