Oskar Blues Brewery, the Denver-based brewery, announced today that it is opening a brewery in Austin next year. It’ll open on April 20 at 10420 Metric Boulevard, which was previously a car repair shop. There will be both a 50,000 square foot brewery and 5,000 square foot taproom and music venue.

The city’s beer and food leanings appealed to brewery founder Dale Katechis. "The passion and rebellious nature of Austin locals, along with the food, craft beer and live music scenes create a vibe that already feels like home," he said in the announcement. Beer-producing neighbors will include Adelbert’s Brewery, Austin Beerworks, Circle Brewing, and 4th Tap Brewing Co-op.

This will be Oskar Blue’s third brewery, along with the original one in Lyons, Colorado and another in Brevard, North Carolina. The brewery also a series of restaurants throughout Longmont and Lyons, Colorado.
