Pizza enthusiasts will be happy to hear that essential Austin pizzeria Home Slice is opening a second location in North Loop. It will take over the the empty building on 501 E. 53rd Street. The lot was most recently the home of shuttered sandwich trailer Melvin’s Deli Comfort. The new Home Slice is expected to open in late 2016, with construction starting later this year or next spring.

The first Home Slice opened ten years ago by Jen Strickland, Joseph Strickland, and Terri Hannifin. The New York-style pizza became so popular that the restaurant became known for its long lines.
