Austin’s first cat cafe, Blue Cat Cafe, is now hiring baristas for its forthcoming spot on Navasota Street. Coffee will be served from the dedicated vegan food truck placed outside of the building. The cat cafe also launched its feline invasion-themed website.
Founder Rebecca Gray set up her Kickstarter for the cat cafe in February and raised the money by April. She found the space in July, which is next door to the demolished Jumpolin store, which will be used as a parking lot. Blue Cat Cafe co-owner Jacques Casimir told Eater previously that they plan on reaching out to the former employees of the piñata store.
Once open, the Blue Cat Cafe will be a place for people to eat, drink, and hang out with adoptable cats. It’s still on track to open in September. Last week, canine-centric Yard Bar opened its bar and membership-based dog park.
