— To celebrate their wing chain’s 20th anniversary, Pluckers will take over ACL Live with a UT kick-off viewing party and free Passion Pit and Bleachers concert on Saturday, September 5. Pluckers Club members will be able to win free tickets through contests.

— After crunching the numbers, the Alamo Drafthouse’s beverage director Bill Norris figured out that people who watched Trainwreck drank marginally more than those who experienced Magic Mike XXL since the former’s opening on Friday, July 17.

— To gauge the authenticity of New York’s version of Tex Mex, El Original (owned by Homesick Texan Lisa Fain) and Javelina, Texas Monthly’s Lone Star state-born writer checked out the scenes and food. The queso and drinks worked at Javelina, but El Original’s decor and Fiestaware usage made him feel like he was slightly closer to home.

— Three Austin-based Starbucks, in Oak Hill, the Lakeline area, and near Anderson Mill, applied for permits to sell alcohol, as reported by The Statesman.

— A breakdown of Launderette’s chocolate and rye dessert is featured in the August issue of Food & Wine. Pastry chef Laura Sawicki explained it's a take on a snack she loved when she was younger.
