Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ was forced to shut down its offshoot trailer Violet Taco this week after Austin’s Code Compliance agency said it was too large for its current location in the front of Craftsman. The department was checking up on the East Austin cocktail bar when the group monitored the trailer as well.

To keep the taco trailer open eventually, the original Valentina’s Tex Mex will stay put in its current temporary refuge in far south, making Brodie Lane its permanent home. Violet Taco will take up its old perch on Star Bar after renovations are completed sometime at the end of July or early August. Catering and events director Modesty Vidal told Eater that the taco trailer “will have a limited Valentina’s menu” once it is open.
