It’s hot in Austin, which means the best distractions from the heat are food and drink. This weekend, there’s plenty of queso, eating for a good cause, and even a restaurant garage sale to keep you busy, or check out the city's most essential spots for eating.

Quesoff Returns — Get ready to line up early for entry into the fifth annual Quesoff on Saturday, July 11. This time, among the cheesy dips, there will be a new category: guacamole. No peas, please.

Restaurant Garage Sale — The El Chile Group (El Chile, El Chilito, Alcomar, and others) is hosting a commercial restaurant equipment garage sale. There’s a pizza oven with stones from Marfa, a charbroiler, steam wells, and a pastry case. It’s open on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the warehouse next to El Chilito.

Springdale Farm Fundraiser — Get ready to "Lettuce Turnip the Beet" (actual name of the event) at Cafe Josie to help support Springdale Farm’s appeal to the city regarding its conditional use permit. The $25 tickets come with food from the cafe, Swift’s Attic, and Contigo. It’s on Sunday, July 12 from 5 to 7 p.m.
