— Thrillist rounded up the 12 important women in the barbecue world, including Tootsie Tomanetz, the pitmaster at Snow’s BBQ in Lexington, and, of course, La Barbecue’s LeAnn Mueller and Ali Clem.

— Would you eat snake? The question arises with the opening of game meat-obsessed Tim Love’s Lonesome Dove Austin, where rabbit-rattlesnake sausage is on the menu. The Chronicle explores sourcing the reptile meat, the history behind its uses, and how it's prepared in Austin. At Sway, there was chunky rattlesnake cakes.

— Johnny Fugitt, author of The 100 Best Barbecue Restaurants in America spoke to Bon Appetit about his ranking methods, which led to Kerlin Barbecue’s sweet placement at the top of the list.
