The McGuire Moorman Hospitality group will oversee all dining options at the just-announced downtown hotel/residence project Austin Proper. The 32-story development will be found on West 2nd and Nueces Streets, the former site of the Green Water Treatment Plant. The group will create and run all of the hotel’s food and beverage programs, including the lobby and poolside restaurants, coffee shop, and room service options. Tenants living in the building will have receive priority dining.
Austin Proper is expected to open in the winter of 2017. There are hotels planned throughout California, Brooklyn, Miami, and other locations.
Other restaurants included in the McGuire Moorman group are Lamberts, Perla’s, Elizabeth St. Cafe, Clark’s Oyster Bar, Josephine House, and Jeffrey’s. Eater has reached out for comments. Watch this space for updates.
Update, June 24, 11:00 a.m.: Austin Proper's address will be 202 Nueces Street, according to a rep. For Larry McGuire, "Hotels were really the next step for [McGuire Moorman Hospitality] as we progress as an Austin lifestyle brand." The group already owns boutique clothing store By George. "I think we need a hip hotel on the west side of downtown as an alternative to all the big brands being built," he added.
