Executive chef Allison Jenkins has left Provencal-inspired LaV today, according to Austin 360. While the restaurant looks for her replacement, executive pastry chef Janina O’Leary will take over the kitchen during the transition period. A rep from LaV shared the following statement:
"For over three years we have worked with Chef Allison at laV, from the Say laV trailer and build out of the space to the launch of the restaurant and where we are today. She has been an instrumental member of the team. As she embarks on her next chapter, we at laV wish her well and are grateful for both her time and talent."
Jenkins opened LaV in March 2014 with advanced sommelier Vilma Mazaite. She was also one of the four chefs nominated for Food & Wine’s Best New Chef on the Southwest ballot. Fellow nominee Alexis Chong was also on the list for her former employer Sway.
It’s unknown what Jenkins's next step is. Eater has reached out; watch this space for updates.
Update, June 4, 1:15 p.m.: Jenkins's next move is still uncertain. She told Eater, "I plan to stay in Austin for now. I look forward to my next opportunity."
