La Barbecue's Forever Home on South Congress is No Longer

The trailer’s looking to introduce dinner hours, too.

Mega-popular trailer La Barbecue isn’t moving to South Congress anymore. The trailer was set to take over the former Wahoo’s Fish Tacos this fall, but according to general manager Ali Clem, "We could not see eye to eye on any negotiations." She added that La Barbecue was "not willing to compromise on what we have worked so hard to build." The brick and mortar will still happen, but she doesn’t know where or when yet.

While searching for that new home, La Barbecue is also hiring more staff to expand its hours to include dinner for a few days a week. Also planned for the summer are DJ and trivia nights.

Because of the proposed potential smoke regulations, the trailer moved its pits away from neighbors earlier this year. John Lewis’s Charleston, SC project, Lewis Barbecue, is getting closer to opening. He’s hosting a series of summer pop-ups at Revelry Brewing and recently unveiled new branding and a website.
