The Austin branch of Fort Worth chef Tim Love’s anticipated Lonesome Dove will open on Thursday, June 25, according to his Twitter. Reservations are currently available on the website. If the food is anything like the Fort Worth location, expect a very Texas menu featuring a lot of meat. Think rabbit-rattlesnake sausages, kangaroo carpaccio (yes), elk loin, and steaks.
For Love’s first venture outside of the Fort Worth-Dallas area, he took over the former Kenichi space last summer. The restaurant was looking for staff in May.
Love was all over this year’s Austin Food & Wine Festival, where he refereed costume-clad Andrew Zimmern and Graham Elliot’s mystery challenges, hosted his massive grilling demos, won Rock Your Taco, and served bites from the impending restaurant.
