Find Out Where Barbecue Ace Aaron Franklin Likes To Eat in Austin

Guess what his taco order is.

Barbecue master and James Beard winner Aaron Franklin spent a day eating in East Austin as part of the Best Eats series with The Food Network. On his list were breakfast tacos at Veracruz All Natural (no cilantro for the pitmaster) and the brisket sandwich (of course) at The Hightower. For dinner, he had snapper crudo and chicken liver pate at Launderette with owners Rene Ortiz and Laura Sawicki. He ended the meal with the birthday cake ice cream sandwich, eaten by hand at Sawicki’s suggestion. Franklin is drawn to restaurants that use well-sourced, quality ingredients, and all three spots do just that. Proximity to his pits on East 11 Street doesn’t hurt, either.
