Cantine, the new Italian cafe from the owners of Asti and the now-shuttered Fino, will open today, May 14, starting at 5 p.m. For now, the restaurant is accepting a small number of reservations and walk-ins.

Co-owner Lisa Fox told Eater last year that Cantine will be "South Lamar casual." The menu sets to marry the cuisines from Fino and Asti, combining Mediterranean and Italian with fare like freshly-made pasta, fried goat cheese and olives, cookies, pizza, full bar, and more. There will also be beers, espresso, and soft serve ice cream, if the soft opening yesterday indicates anything.

The new restaurant is part of the Lamar Union complex, which is also home to the recently opened Vox Table and Shake Shack.
