Salt & Time, the popular East 7th butcher shop and restaurant, is expanding with a larger dining room. The renovations are to help ease wait times for lunch and dinner. The restaurant will take over a vacant space next to the current dining room, which will add 30-40 more seats. Changes include using new chairs and tables, too.
"We're excited to be able to offer a better dining experience in the restaurant," said co-owner Ben Runkle to Eater, "while at the same time allowing our current bar to go back to being more casual, walk-in only seating." There are no plans to close the restaurant during construction. With the new space comes a new menu, but that won’t be unveiled until the room is finished sometime in May.
In the meantime, interested people can check out the unfinished area when Salt & Time hosts Dallas-based Dude, Sweet Chocolate’s continued Austin pop-up tour this weekend, with foie gras caramel skulls and other sweet exclusive items. Find them on Friday to Saturday, April 3-4 from 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m., and Sunday, April 5 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
