Proof that a bar venue in central Austin will never remain vacant for long, a new tenant has already been found for the former home of The Horseshoe Lounge. The Golden Goose is a collaboration between Jason Steward of Bar 2211 and Sean Frick of J. Black's, who met while working at the original Eddie V's. Both were regulars at the old Horseshoe Lounge, according to a press release.

The new bar will serve liquor and take credit cards, unlike The Shoe, and will offer a shuffleboard table for the former tenant's regulars. The press release describes the concept as a neighborhood bar serving cold beer and "for more discerning tastes, strong, hand crafted cocktails." The Golden Goose will open in May.
