World of Beer, the Tampa-based craft beer tavern chain, is bringing beer by the barrelful to South Austin this spring. According to a press release, the bar’s beer list will include over 500 different types of bottled brews and 50 rotating taps. Because the bar wants to highlight local craft beers, local breweries on tap will include Jester King, Austin Beerworks, and Independence Brewing Co. For the non-beer drinkers, there will be craft cocktails, ciders, and wine.
The menu features comfort pub fare like Bavarian pretzels and Chimay burgers. Sundays will have what World of Beer calls "a unique BEERunch menu," presumably a beer and dish pairing. The space, which will also include an outdoor patio, is set to open this spring at 3109 South Lamar, near Kerbey Lane Cafe and Broken Spoke. Currently, World of Beer is hiring staff.
There are already over 70 World of Beer taverns spread across 20 states. This will be the seventh bar in Texas, including four locations announced or already open in Dallas.
